Ork Bommer finished

Finished! I may have overdone it with the weathering...a bit...

Hi all, I thought you'd like to see my finished Ork Bommer in all it's beaten up, rusty glory!

My original intention was to show you some pics of the final version and then a description of the process I followed.  That was a great idea except the step-by-step has turned into something of a marathon post in it's own right! I'll be looking to get that finished, as well as the flying stand, by mid-week.

I think it's fair to say I'm really proud of this model, it's easily the best thing I've painted by miles.  As such I've taken a lot of pics which I hope you'll like too.

So, until I get the step-by-step to you please let me know what you think in the comments.

  1. Holy cow! That is flippin' BRILLIANT! I love the extra-distressed look, it definitely looks Orky. Really looki9ng forward to seeing the step-by-step man, I have a heck of a time with weathering and eagerly devour any posts I can on the subject.

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Cheers Mordian! You set the bar pretty high with your Ork flyer so I wanted to do something special with mine.

  2. EYE CANDY! I agree whole heartedly with Mordian, very much looking forward to the step by step!? Maybe you should break it up amongst a couple of bite sized posts in order to help stop it from being a mega-long one! I know I'd stop by for them!

    1. Thanks oink. That's an idea, although I've got other stuff lining up on the bench so I'm tempted to put it all out there in one go and maybe create a tut section?

  3. Outstanding. I think you nailed it. Weathered paint is the limit of what, to me, is believable Ork negligence. People usually overdo it with the rust and that seems too ramshackle for an airworthy jet, so, well done!

    1. Many thanks Yeti, very kind : ) I guess it's about getting the balance right? Now that I've got my confidence up, the difficult thing will be to 'hold back' when I'm weathering human or Eldar vehicles...
