I'm pretty pleased with how this is turning out, the magnetic hatches give this model something pretty unique and I like the contrast of the light grey interior with the olive drab exterior.
I really like the idea that these units perform a 'hovering combat drop', opening all the hatches to provide an exit for a Fire Warrior squad. Very cool.
I still have a lot of work to do with highlighting, detail and weathering before I can relax on this one. Also, I don't think the olive drab by itself is interesting enough. The original idea I was going for was meant to be evocative of the US army (WWII/Vietnam eras) or even the colonial marines from Aliens, but now that I see it I think I'll try and break it up a bit with a different colour.
I'm progressing well with my Tau army. I now have 36 Fire warriors, 2 Hammerheads and 3 Devilfish all ready to be highlighted, weathered and detailed. The next stage is assembling, priming and basecoating a total of 9 Battle suits including 2 Broadsides. More updates on all that soon. Let me know what you think so far!
I like the Olive Drab color. I think the light grey contrast works well too.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking to break it up some like you mentioned, maybe a spot color here or there. I wouldn't think it would need to be bright... maybe another muted color for some surface contrast and break up any monotony.
Nice work.
Ron, FTW
Thanks Ron! I think I'm going to use Ice Blue as my spot colour and Charadon Granite as a secondary colour to break up the Olive Drab a bit.
DeleteLooking good! I think Chardon Granite will work well with the drab Olive shceme.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Snake, I think so too and it'll tie in with the rest of the army.
